British Central  - The man behind the Company

To know British Central the company you first have to understand the man behind it – Jim Faulconer. He has over 30 years of devotions to the preservation of the British car. You can always get great service and quality parts at British Central – but what makes his shop unique and stands out from the rest is the service, experienced advice and support you receive from a true enthusiast

Any thing with Wheels..

Picture
Anything with wheels intrigued Jim, from mastering the skateboard to racing everything from unicycles, bicycles to go-carts. By  the age of 14 his attention had already turned to the automobile and he was able to purchase his first and one of many British motorcars – a 1959 Bugeye Sprite. At 16 he purchased his MG-TD, which he still owns. In high school when everyone else was working on their American cars - Jim was spending all his time working on British cars.  As you can guess it didn’t stop there. He took his first Bugeye Sprite and developed it into a SCCA prepared racecar.  He raced at tracks from Seattle Washington to Sears Point California and from Lime Rock Connecticut to Pocono Pennsylvania.

Barber Pro Series

Jim decided after tasting the excitement of racing he wanted to make his living at it. He moved his family from Yakima, Washington to Canaan, Connecticut – over 3000 miles to go play with race cars. Jim worked for Skip Barber where he ran a crew for the Barber

Jaguar Racing

From there Jim moved on and up to work for TWR (Tom Walkinshaw Racing) based out of England. Tom was starting a new team in America for the Jaguar XJR9 and XJR10 racecars and their home was to be in Valparaiso Indiana.  Sponsored by both Jaguar and Castrol and from 1988 to 1992 these cars would race in the IMSA sports car racing series. Jim worked on the number one car; he crewed at the 24-hour of Daytona in Florida, the 12-hour of Sebring Florida, Delmar California, Road America - Elkhart Lake Wisconsin and all the road-racing tracks in between.  Jim also got to go help the English team run the 24-hour of LeMans in France. A fun filled and exciting two years - being involved with the Jaguar race team.
